The Mac app

DocBrown imports and indexes your local Codex and Claude Code transcripts on your Mac. It does not use telemetry, a hosted database, an embedding API, or an LLM. Original source files and repositories are read-only.

The search database, transcript copies, and configuration are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/DocBrown/.

Optional GitHub integration

If you enable GitHub enrichment, DocBrown uses your existing GitHub CLI login for read-only lookups. These requests send repository identifiers and commit hashes to GitHub, never conversation text.
